Independent Travel: Pros and Cons Compared to Travel Agencies

Independent Travel: Pros and Cons Compared to Travel Agencies

Organizing a trip can be an exciting experience, but choosing how to do it can become a real dilemma. Do you prefer total autonomy or the security offered by a travel agency? In this article, we will explore the advantages and disadvantages of organizing trips independently versus relying on travel agencies.
If you’re looking for more tips on organizing your trips, read the other articles on this blog. You’ll find many posts about everything related to organizing trips independently.

Advantages of Independent Travel
Direct Contact with Providers

One of the main advantages of independent travel is direct contact with travel service providers.
This means being able to negotiate directly with hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions, often getting better and more transparent deals.
Direct communication eliminates intermediaries and allows you to know exactly what you are purchasing.

However, during the phases of organizing a trip, the biggest difficulty will be finding the necessary information to choose and contact the final providers to turn to.

Example: once the destination of the trip is chosen, you need to:

– Choose the type of accommodation
– Find and read reviews and, based on those, choose the facility to rely on.

Very often this phase is not at all simple. Reviews are not always reliable and, even in good faith, what one tourist likes may not be as pleasant for another. Sites like Booking.com or Tripadvisor are valuable sources to draw from but not always reliable and satisfactory.

At this point, it will be necessary to find:
– phone number
– email address

It’s not always easy to find this information. It may seem strange, but very often, local operators (including hotels) do not clearly post their contact details. The main reason is the total delegation of customer care to OTAs.

Once the contact information is found, you need to have:
– communication skills (in case the destination does not speak your language)
– negotiation skills and knowledge of possible purchasable options.

So, finding the information necessary to organize trips independently is the main obstacle to overcome.

Economic Savings

Organizing a trip by yourself can be significantly cheaper than using a travel agency. Agencies apply commissions for their services, while by booking directly, you can take advantage of the best rates available online. Moreover, you can choose cheaper accommodation and transport options that fit your budget.

Autonomy and Planning Freedom

Traveling independently gives you complete freedom to organize your itinerary according to your needs and preferences. You can decide when to leave, where to stop, and how long to stay in a place. This level of flexibility is particularly valuable if you want a trip that is personalized and tailored just for you.

independent travel

Disadvantages of Independent Travel
Lack of Assistance

Organizing everything by yourself can be stressful, especially if something goes wrong during the trip. Travel agencies offer customer service that can quickly solve problems and unforeseen events. Without this support, you will be responsible for managing any difficulties yourself.

Insurance and Coverage

Travel agencies often include insurance packages that cover services, cancellations, and other unforeseen events. When traveling independently, you will need to arrange adequate insurance yourself, which can be an additional cost and concern.

Recovery of Expenses in Case of Disruptions

In case of disruptions, such as canceled flights or hotels that do not match the description, travel agencies can assist you in recovering expenses and managing complaints. Organizing the trip by yourself, you will have to deal with these issues directly with the providers, which can take time and energy.

The Importance of Information

Regardless of the method chosen to organize your trip, it is crucial to have all the necessary information before leaving. Planning ahead and knowing the details about accommodations, transport, attractions, and local culture can make the difference between a stressful journey and a pleasant experience. Avoid buying services blindly and make sure you have a well-defined plan.

Conclusion

Traveling independently offers numerous advantages, such as saving money and the freedom to organize your itinerary, but it also involves the need to find reliable information and manage any problems on your own.

Travel agencies, on the other hand, provide assistance and security but at an additional cost.

The choice depends on your personal preferences and specific needs. Always remember to plan carefully and make use of available resources, such as the Triplannerr community, to make your trip an unforgettable experience.

How to Leverage Apps and Online Services to Plan a Trip

The transition from an era in which only travel agents had access to certain information to the present day, where every traveler can be an expert, has been revolutionary.

An internet user who knows how to use Google to conduct searches quickly learns how to leverage apps and online services to plan a trip and is capable of independently carrying out almost all the tasks that were once delegated to “professionals”.

Apps and online services have democratized travel planning, making it accessible to all.

A digital revolution that has slowly transformed the tourism sector as well as the habits of travelers and tourists.

Today, thanks to apps, websites, and the provision of services that make what was once the job of travel agencies easy, all travelers have very powerful tools at their disposal that a few years ago made the intermediation of “professionals” mandatory and “do it yourself” impossible.

Today, everyone knows (well or poorly) how to use apps and online services to plan a trip and can do so thanks to a macrocosm of websites, apps, and e-commerce that sell all the necessary services.

10 Reasons to Ditch Travel Agents: Exploring Alternatives for Independent Travel

Ditch Travel Agents?

This blog is dedicated to promoting and spreading the Triplannerr project.

After the pandemic of 2020/21, the tourism industry has once again become one of the most profitable worldwide.

The number of tourists traveling within their own countries or moving to foreign countries is constantly increasing. However, the positive trend does not match the revenue recorded by Tour Operators, Travel Agencies, or Travel Agents.

The explanation is very simple: the majority of tourists and travelers no longer turn to them but organize their trips and vacations independently, avoiding all intermediaries.

Ditching travel agents is a new trend resulting from the natural evolution of tourists who are now accustomed to using the internet for organizing themselves.

The aim of Travel Maker and the Triplannerr project is to provide all these tourists with a new, innovative, and free tool to organize their trips independently, avoiding all intermediaries and saving on travel costs.

Professionals in the tourism sector (including travel agents) will find in the Triplannerr project a new tool to promote their professionalism and services, renewing a now obsolete work method that is bound to change (and to extinct) due to the new purchasing habits of tourists.

Introduction:

Are you ready to discover why you should say goodbye to traditional travel agents and embrace the freedom to organize your trips? In this article, we will delve into 10 detailed reasons to abandon old practices and explore alternative solutions for traveling independently.

Ditch Travel Agents: Why?

Reason 1: Freedom to Organize Trips on Your Own

The main advantage of organizing trips on your own is the total freedom to decide where to go, what to do, and how to do it.

The key is the use of apps and online platforms that put control in your hands, allowing you to customize your itinerary according to your desires.

This Blog will provide you with dozens of articles explaining (in every detail) how to use apps, websites, and tools easily found online to replace the work that travel agents used to do.

The Triplannerr Project will be the definitive solution that will allow you to organize all your trips entirely independently.

Reason 2: Customized Planning with Apps and Online Platforms

Take advantage of apps and online platforms that offer advanced planning tools.

These tools allow you to find destinations most suited to your interests, create detailed itineraries, and access travel advice directly from the online community.

Reason 3: Economic Savings with Exclusive Offers and Online Discounts

Abandoning traditional travel agents means saying goodbye to extra commissions.

Use specialized websites and apps that offer exclusive deals and discounts on flights, accommodations, and activities. Economic savings are in your hands.

Reason 4: Unique and Authentic Experiences through Traveler Reviews

Rather than relying on brochures and catalogs, search for online reviews written by other travelers.

Unique and authentic experiences emerge from the real stories and opinions of those who have already traveled the path you are about to embark on.

The Triplannerr project is based on altruism and the free and spontaneous sharing of information gathered during travels.

We go beyond reviews and provide everything you need to repeat experiences testified by real people, adapting them to your personal needs.

All this through “Travel Reports” that every user registered with Triplannerr can publish at the end of their travel experience.

Reason 5: Exploring without Constraints, Doing What You Love with Flexible Itineraries

By organizing independently, you enjoy the flexibility to make last-minute changes without having to face complex bureaucratic procedures.

Change your itinerary, discover unexpected places, and tailor your trip to your desires.

Using Triplannerr to organize your trips will allow you to find inspiration from “Travel Reports” published by other travelers.

The internal search engine will enable you to find experiences similar to what you want to live in your destination aligned with your budget within seconds!

Reason 6: Handling Travel Crises with Flexibility and Online Support

In emergency situations, flexibility is crucial. With online solutions, you have immediate access to assistance and resources, addressing travel crises without having to wait for responses or solutions from third parties.

This Blog is constantly updated, and you will find dozens of articles explaining how to handle emergencies, recover the money you spent (in case of disservices or cancellations not dependent on you), or how to relate in the most correct way with the giants of international tourism.

Reason 7: Eliminating Additional Commissions and Saving on Direct Bookings

Direct bookings through official websites of hotels, airlines, and tourist activities eliminate extra commissions charged by travel agents.

Save on costs and get more affordable rates without intermediaries.

One of the most-read articles ever on this Blog is “How NOT to use Booking to save” – an example among many that will help you spend as little as possible while getting the most out of your budget!

how not using booking to save costs

Reason 8: Authentic Connections with the Traveler Community via Social Networks

Join travel-focused social networks and connect with a global community of travelers.

Share experiences, exchange tips, and receive valuable information directly from the source, creating authentic connections with other travel enthusiasts.

Triplannerr is precisely this: a new Social Network where travel (not people) is the center around which everything revolves!

Reason 9: Deepening Cultural Knowledge with Online Local Guides

Take advantage of online local guides, often more authentic and current than traditional ones.

Interact with the local culture through the voices of residents, discovering hidden places and authentic traditions.

You can find a practical example of how to do this by reading the post I dedicated to Google Guide, one of the most interesting and innovative services in the (free) universe of Google.

Reason 10: Contributing to a Global Traveler Community and Sharing Experiences

By actively participating in independent organization, you contribute to creating a global community of travelers. Share your experiences to help other travelers plan their trips independently, creating a lasting bond with the community.

For this reason, I invite you to join the Triplannerr project!

By sharing your travel experiences, you will help other tourists organize their trips independently, and at the same time, you can consult an immense database to organize your travels entirely independently!

Using Google Flights to Fly Around the World

Using Google Flights

Google Fly is an online flight search tool that helps you find the best airfares based on your travel needs.

Launched in 2011, this service simplifies the search for the best market deals for travelers planning a trip.

In this article, we’ll explore how Google Flights works, how to use it to plan trips and choose destinations, how to save on flight prices, and the differences between this tool and a traditional travel agency.

Additionally, we’ll provide some tips for making the most of Google Flights and finding the best deals. Along with Google Maps and Google Pay, it becomes the ideal tool for organizing your trips in total autonomy.

  1. How Google Flights Works

Google Flights uses a sophisticated algorithm to analyze flight data from various sources to find the best flight options based on users’ needs.

Users can enter their departure and destination cities, travel dates, the number of passengers, and other preferences like travel class and flight times.

The search engine will then display a list of available flight options with real-time prices and schedules.

Additionally, users can use advanced filters to narrow down their search based on different criteria such as the number of stops, preferred airline, travel duration, and maximum price.

Google Flights also provides suggestions on the cheapest days of the week to fly and tips on saving on airfare prices. In summary, Google Flights is a quick and efficient tool for finding the best airfares on the market based on individual user needs.

Using Google Flights
  1. How to Use Google Flights to Plan Trips and Choose Destinations

Google Flights not only helps users find the best airfares but also serves as a useful tool for planning trips and choosing destinations.

Users can enter their departure city and leave the destination field blank to view an interactive map showing flight prices to various destinations around the world.

Additionally, users can use the “Explore” feature to search for popular destinations based on their preferences, such as the time of year, preferred activity, and available budget.

Google Flights also provides information on the main attractions of the chosen destinations and flight prices for each period of the year.

This way, users can conduct a more in-depth search on their preferred destination and find the best combination of flight and accommodation to meet their needs.

In summary, Google Flights is a versatile tool for planning trips and discovering new destinations based on personal preferences.

  1. How to Save on Flight Prices with Google Flights

Google Flights offers several options to save on flight prices.

Users can use the “Flexible Dates” feature to view flight prices based on the days of the week and month of departure, allowing them to choose the best time to travel and obtain the most affordable fares.

Furthermore, users can use the “Flexible Dates Price” option to find the best rates within a selected date range.

Google Flights also provides a “Price Forecast” option, which shows the likelihood of flight prices increasing or decreasing in the coming weeks, enabling users to plan their travel based on flight price trends.

Additionally, users can subscribe to price notifications to receive alerts when flight prices drop or rise. In summary, Google Flights is an effective tool for saving on flight prices, offering many options to find the best rates and monitoring flight price trends over time.

Using Google Flights

  1. The Differences Between Google Fly and a Traditional Travel Agency

One of the main differences between Google Fly and a traditional travel agency is the ability to plan your trip independently. With Google Fly, users can search for flights, choose destinations, and save on flight prices without having to pay commissions or agency fees.

Moreover, Google Fly offers a wide range of options to customize your search, while traditional travel agencies may only show a few selected options.

However, traditional travel agencies also offer services such as vacation packages, hotel reservations, and car rentals, which are not available on Google Fly.

Additionally, travel agencies provide personalized assistance and support in case of problems during the trip, while with Google Fly, users must manage any issues or unforeseen events on their own.

In summary, Google Fly offers more autonomy and customization in trip planning compared to traditional travel agencies, but the latter provide additional services and personalized support during the trip.

  1. Tips for Using Google Fly Effectively and Finding the Best Deals

To make the most of Google Fly and find the best deals, it’s important to consider some tips. Firstly, users should use the “Explore” function to discover new destinations and find the most affordable fares.

Secondly, users should be flexible with their departure and arrival dates, using the “Date Flexibility” option to find the cheapest flight prices. Additionally, users can save on flight prices by choosing the cheapest days of the week to fly.

It’s also crucial to monitor flight price trends using the “Estimated Price” option and subscribe to price notifications to receive alerts when flight prices drop or rise. Finally, users should conduct searches in incognito mode or clear their browsing history to prevent flight prices from being increased due to online activity tracking.

With these tips, users can maximize their use of Google Fly and find the best flight deals.

Using Google Fly: Conclusion

In conclusion, Google Fly is a useful tool for online flight search, allowing users to find the best airfares based on their travel needs. It offers many options for customizing searches and saving on flight prices, such as date flexibility, price notifications, and flight price trends.

Additionally, Google Fly is also an excellent tool for planning trips and choosing destinations based on personal preferences.

However, as we have seen, there are some differences between Google Fly and traditional travel agencies, such as the lack of additional services and personalized support during the trip.

With helpful tips like using the “Explore” function and clearing browsing history, users can take full advantage of Google Fly and find the best deals on flight prices.

In summary, Google Fly is an effective tool for finding the most affordable airfares on the market and planning customized trips independently.

If you choose to proceed with “start planning a trip,” for example, the next page of the site will ask you to select the date range for your trip and the chosen destination. From my tests, it appears that the site is operational only in Italy at the moment. The procedure continues very intuitively, and you just need to answer the questions that will help the site understand the type of travel experience you are looking for. At the end of the procedure, you just have to wait a few days to receive three different offers. Using AirHelp to Get Refunds

Using AirHelp to obtain refunds for canceled or delayed flight tickets is an excellent way to reclaim the money spent on airfare.

Flight Canceled or Delayed: Getting a Refund for Tickets

Airline tickets often represent the most expensive item among the costs of a trip or vacation. Buying tickets is very simple, and anyone can manage to get the best price online. However, I recommend reading my posts “Where to Buy Travel Tickets” and “Using Flights Hunter to Find the Most Convenient Flight” before making a purchase.

If you’ve already chosen Ryan Air for your flight, I suggest reading “How to Maximize Ryanair” before proceeding.

But what happens if your flight is canceled or significantly delayed? How do you get a refund if the missed flight ruins your trip?

Not everyone knows how to proceed. When the trip is purchased through a travel agency, it’s the professionals’ job to provide a refund (and possibly recover costs from the airlines), but what if the trip was organized independently? How do you get a refund then?

You’ll find various options online on how to proceed, but I recommend considering the services of AirHelp.

Using AirHelp to Obtain Refunds

The process to obtain a refund for tickets is often purposely complicated to discourage travelers from pursuing it. Moreover, various states and different airlines have different policies and regulations. There are also international regulations, European Union rules, and a myriad of legal loopholes unknown to those not well-versed in the subject. The main legal sources to refer to are:

Everything is complicated in favor of the companies, which, obviously, are reluctant to return money even when they are in the wrong.

In principle, refunds can be obtained in these cases:

  • Canceled flight
  • Flight delay (at departure or arrival)
  • Delayed flight
  • Missed connection
  • Overbooking
  • Denied boarding
  • Delayed luggage
  • Strike

Once you’re certain of having the right (or at least some chance) to obtain a refund, turning to the experts at AirHelp can be the simplest and fastest way to get your money back.

Using AirHelp to Get Refunds

How Does AirHelp Work?

To take advantage of AirHelp’s services, you have two options:

  1. Request assistance without subscribing to a membership
  2. Subscribe to a membership

For assistance without a subscription, AirHelp’s lawyers will retain a commission of 35% in the case of a “standard procedure,” meaning if they can request and obtain the refund without the need to initiate legal proceedings. If, however, legal action is necessary to obtain the refund, the commission rises to 50%.

If you decide to use AirHelp to obtain refunds by subscribing to a membership (in case you make several flights a year), there are two different subscription plans:

The Benefits of Using AirHelp for Refunds

  • Essential: in this case, the refund received from the airline will be returned in full, without commissions.
  • Complete: in this case, in addition to the refund, AirHelp includes a series of benefits, such as access to reserved areas in airports during pre-boarding waits.

All the details on the tariff plans are explained on the subscription page of the AirHelp website.

Using GetYourGuide to Plan Your Trip

Using getyourguide to plan your trip is a smart choice if you don’t want to waste even a minute of your time at your travel destination.

This blog is dedicated to independent travelers. All those people who love to travel and prefer to plan and organize their trips entirely on their own, avoiding any form of intermediation.

Doing everything without the advice of a professional isn’t easy, and if we want to avoid unpleasant surprises or end up with a ruined trip, we must search and evaluate all the necessary information to plan every detail before arriving at our destination.

The first step is choosing the destination, but the experienced traveler knows this is the easy and fun part, and that researching the information needed to organize a trip is the most difficult and demanding part.

In this blog, you’ll find plenty of suggestions, ideas, and techniques to follow to manage to organize your trips as a professional would, but your ability to plan and gather the necessary information will make the difference.

Once you arrive at your destination, you find yourself in a completely new environment without the references we’re used to. Knowing how to act and whom to turn to from the first moment is the factor that makes a difference and will make your trip a pleasant memory or a bad adventure to forget.

Using GetYourGuide to Organize Your Trip

Using GetYourGuide to organize your trip is an excellent choice. Including “GetYourGuide” among the tools you use to plan your trips is a smart choice that will give you great help.

Purchasing the services offered on the site is not mandatory! You can use the powerful functionalities available on the site to draw inspiration and to find ideas and suggestions on how to organize your time during the vacation.

But what is “GetYourGuide,” and how does it work? Why use GetYourGuide to organize your trip?

What is “GetYourGuide”?

It’s a website that works like Booking but instead serves to book activities to do at your travel destination.

How does it work?

Suppose you have chosen your destination and the date of your arrival. All you need to do is enter them in the internal search engine of “GetYourGuide” and analyze the results.Using GetYourGuide to Plan Your Trip

Get Your Guide will return a page where you’ll find all the activities, tourist guides, day tours, and experiences that can be undertaken on those days at your chosen destination!

And that’s not all! Just as happens on Booking, you can select the offers that interest you by using a wide range of filters to personalize your search and display only the results that interest you.

A very useful feature to use is “Add Dates”: many activities are not available every day, so by adding more dates, you can get different results and find different or more interesting activities.

For all activities purchased through Get Your Guide, free cancellation and a full refund of the amount paid are provided within 24 hours of the event.

Using GetYourGuide to Plan Your Trip

Using GetYourGuide to Plan Your Trip

The filters available allow you to display only the offers that may be of most interest to you. Let’s see what they are:

  • Destinations allows you to view all possible destinations accessible from your starting point (the place where, for example, you have chosen to stay).
  • Interests lets you choose from different options by selecting the type of activity that interests you. Based on your preferences, the site will show you activities, excursions, and tourist guides that match.
  • Categories using this filter, you can choose different options based on the type of activity (example: outdoor activities), duration (example: day trip), or activities related to sports, interests, or cultural experiences.
  • Price this filter allows you to select Get Your Guide’s proposals based on the budget at your disposal.
  • Languages instead allows you to select only activities where the languages you have selected are spoken: you can search for activities where the guide accompanying you speaks your language or, alternatively, speaks one of the languages you know.
  • Duration is a filter that selects the proposals you see based on the duration of the experiences, guides, excursions you are buying. Very useful if you are planning more than one activity on the same day!
  • Services offers a range of options. Very functional, for example, is “Skip the Line” in case of Guided Tours of Museums, or “Toilets” can be a specific necessity for sick people, the elderly, or those with disabilities.

Once you have found the activity proposal that interests you, you can purchase it simply by clicking on it. A card with all the details will open. All that’s left is to fill out the form and purchase.

Remember that to cancel and get a refund, you have until at most 24 hours before.

The really useful and extraordinary thing about this site is that it works worldwide, and you can find attractions, experiences, and excursions all over the world!

I tested it with Tirana (by the way, take a look here: Vacanze in Albania), but it works with many locations worldwide! You can also use it just for fun or to dream about the trips you want to make.

A functionality similar to many others that you will soon also find on Triplannerr.com, the new travel platform we are about to launch.

Covid Restrictions: Where Can You Travel?

Covid restrictions are the most used search keyword on Google and all search engines by tourists and travelers. After many months of constraints and prohibitions, finally, some countries have removed the Covid restrictions that prevented travel for tourism.

The news that gives us hope today (September 21, 2021) is that the largest country in the world (U.S.A.) has finally removed the Covid restrictions on travel for tourism, and it will be possible to enter the country by showing a vaccination certificate and a negative swab test.

Great news that encourages optimism and rekindles the hope of a return to normalcy. All travel enthusiasts hope to soon return to a reality where travel between nations and continents will again be free from all Covid restrictions.

Waiting to find serenity in a world where we will once again be free to travel to all countries, we must consult the laws, regulations, and norms in force in the country from which we depart and in the country we wish to reach.

Covid Restrictions: how and where to find information on the current regulations?

Every country in the world has been hit by the pandemic and since 2020 travel for tourism has been banned in many countries.

For a long time, air connections (and with all means) were suspended and for some terrible months many nations in the world have self-isolated, preventing arrivals and departures.

Travel for tourism was banned and in many cases, you could only cross the borders for “work”, “study”, or “health” reasons.

Now that the U.S.A. has removed the Covid restrictions, we can hope that many other nations will adopt the same measure and that we can return to normalcy as soon as possible.

But how to find out if it is possible to travel to the chosen destination? How to be sure to have accurate information regarding the Covid restrictions in force?

Social networks are flooded with conversations in which travelers exchange news but, as often happens, you find conflicting information that too often turns out to be wrong and unreliable.

Let’s see what are the certain sources where you can find the necessary information to undertake travels avoiding setbacks or, in the worst case, the possibility of being blocked at customs and having to give up on the trip.

Covid Restrictions

Covid Restrictions: Websites to Consult from Italy Ministry of Health

The first website I recommend consulting from Italy is that of the Ministry of Health, where you can easily find the lists of countries (A, B, C, D, E) with their respective Covid prescriptions in force.

From the very beginning of the pandemic, countries have been placed on lists based on the spread of the virus on their territory and the chances of getting infected by traveling to their territories based on the contagion rate and the number of infected.

The lists are still used to distinguish countries based on the conditions of virus spread in their territories and regulate incoming and outgoing travel.

Let’s see what the Covid restrictions are for traveling to the countries on the lists:

Group A (Vatican City and the Republic of San Marino) no Covid restrictions are foreseen, not even the presentation of the Passenger Locator Form. Group B: Countries where you can move without any reason, even for Tourism. Group C: Countries where you can travel (even for Tourism) provided you have not been (in the 14 days prior) in Group D or E countries. Group D: even just “transit” in one of the countries on this list obliges the traveler to a series of requirements, the most important of which are:

  • Presentation of the Passenger Locator Form
  • Molecular or Antigenic swab within 72 hours before arrival at customs
  • Presentation of the Vaccination Certificate In case of failure to present the required documentation, a fiduciary quarantine of five days is foreseen.

I recommend reading the details of the Covid prescriptions in force on the Ministry of Health’s website.
Group E: In these countries, it is not possible to travel for Tourism.

Entering or leaving Italy requires justifying the travel and proving that it is motivated by one of the reasons for which travel is allowed: Work, Health, Study.

I recommend reading the details of the Covid prescriptions in force on the Ministry of Health’s website. There are specific Covid restrictions for some countries not on the lists: Japan, Canada, Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka.

I recommend reading the details of the Covid prescriptions in force on the Ministry of Health’s website.

There are Covid Tested Flights that are regulated with specific regulations that I suggest you evaluate based on your particular needs.

Travel Safely

Immediately after the Ministry of Health’s website, the Travel Safely website is the one I recommend you consult before setting off on your journey.

This site also provides accurate and reliable information on the Covid restrictions in force. Consulting it before setting off on a journey is of utmost importance.

You will find all the updates on the measures taken by the Italian government regarding the Covid restrictions in force. Among the first information available, you will find the link to download the App Immuni, which, despite the failure, is still considered an “essential” device for travelers.

Immediately after, the site advises to travel with the “Green Pass” which, although not recognized by all the countries of the world, is useful for movements within the European Union borders. On the “Green Pass” page, you will also find a very useful sitography with all the references to laws and decrees in force.

The “Travel Safely” site also indicates the lists of countries in groups A, B, C, D, E with the specific provisions for each list.

Covid Restrictions

Touring Club Italy

The website of Touring Club Italy has recently published an article titled: “Coronavirus and travel: where Italians cannot go” that I recommend you consult because it contains a very useful list of all European states and many non-European ones with the detail (state by state) of the Covid restrictions in force (entry and exit) and with useful references to the government websites of all the states.

It’s really very useful: you just need to search the list for the country you want to travel to find immediately described the Covid restrictions in force and the references to the institutional sites of the governments that have issued them.

The description of the Covid restrictions and how they must be executed is well done and detailed, and the presence of institutional links offers you the opportunity to verify and contact the relevant bodies in case of necessity.

Skyscanner

The most popular site among more experienced travelers (which I talked about in my post dedicated to how to buy airline tickets) and always in search of new destinations to reach has added a very useful page entirely dedicated to the Covid restrictions in force.

Using the Skyscanner website is simple and intuitive and is the best I recommend you consult if you want to quickly find information on the Covid restrictions in force in the country you have chosen as your travel destination.

You can choose the country from which to depart and the one to arrive in. You will immediately see four different lists (Low, Moderate, High, and Unknown restrictions) what are the Covid restrictions in force in over 160 countries (those where it is possible to fly with airlines).

Moreover, the function that allows you to choose the country of departure as well as the country of arrival gives you access to information related to all countries in the world!

Therefore, in addition to the information related to travels departing from Italy to other 160 countries, information (and the Covid restrictions in force) for departures from any of the countries in the list to all the others are also available.

In practice, you have access to a database with information on all the Covid restrictions in force in the world!

Covid Restrictions
Europa.eu

If instead of traveling by plane you use other means, I recommend you consult the Europa.eu website, where you will find detailed guides on the Covid restrictions in force for travelers arriving and departing by ship, train, bus, or with their own means.

Vueling

Vueling has also added a function similar to that of Skyscanner with the possibility of inserting any country of departure and arrival and immediately viewing the Covid restrictions in force.

Airlines Websites and Google

Almost all airlines’ websites have followed Skyscanner’s example and offer the possibility to view the covid restrictions in force between the countries connected by their flights.

EasyJet , for example, offers the possibility to refine the search by declaring to be “fully vaccinated” and therefore only viewing the Covid restrictions in force for those who have already received the vaccine. Compared to the Skyscanner site, it offers the visualization of countries by colors and gives a more immediate idea of the situation. To find detailed information, it is necessary to click several times, but the site is still useful and easy to use.

Google

Simply searching for information related to the trip you want to make can sometimes be enough to find everything you need. For example, Norway has published a very useful guide for all tourists intending to visit the country: Visitnorway.it  is in Italian, easy to use, and very useful!

Covid Restrictions: Conclusions

The situation of Covid restrictions worldwide is constantly evolving, and we will have to live with it for a long time.

We must learn to find the information and be prepared for any requirement necessary for departure and to complete the journey safely.

All countries, airlines, tour operators are already committed to making the necessary information for traveling immediate, correct, available, and useful.

Just as we got used to anti-terrorism measures after the September 11, 2001, attack, we will get used to those necessary to contain the contagion.

We will return to travel as and even better than before!
